Hello all-

Yes, I'm still here. Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster have more combined sightings than I do on here. I still check this page a couple times a week; just not posting much on here. Maybe I'll add some some that I posted on Instagram on here.

As always, I debate on still using this as my main platform for art. I always talk about creating a website that ultimately never happens. This is still in ways my home, but at some point I will need to move on. I'm sure that dA still is a great community for artists; though perhaps my time on here is nearing its expiration date.

I'm looking forward to many new challenges for myself in this calendar year. I count on them failing, however that's not a bad thing. I count on growing from them, getting better, and gaining new perspectives and ways to create and promote art.

Be good my friends.

Hey everyone-

Been a while since I posted a journal or art of any kind on here. I'm gradually phasing deviantART out, as I've found that it's not quite the site it once was, and I'm using other platforms (Instagram - NickMockoviak). I'll still post some work here, but follow me on Instagram or Facebook to see in-progress work and other stuff.

And yes, it is my birthday. Thank you all for the kind words and messages!

So.....

I realize that I haven't posted a journal entry on here since December. Oops. Truth be told, I post much more on Facebook (The Art of Nick Mockoviak) and Instagram (NickMockoviak), so please follow me on there (I'm also on Tumblr and Twitter, but my IG and FB page both link to those two, so it really doesn't matter. Unless it's here.)

I've been on deviantART for 10 years. A decade. I have seen many changes on here, from all the (sometimes frustrating) layout changes, to the users on this site, the types of art submitted, and all in between. Some of the changes have been good, and some are puzzling. My feeling is that after this current subscription runs dry, I will probably let this spot fall to pieces. The main reason why I started this page was to promote my artwork and make connections with others in the industry of cartoons and comics. For me, the well has run dry years ago. I know that keeping a presence here is still valuable, but increasingly I find that my own use for said purposes is a battle in vain. As my buddy Jerome Moore would say, your mileage may vary.

I looked over my work that I have posted on here. It's fascinating to view the progress and evolution of one's work, especially over the course of 10 years. I went from black and white ink work to markers to watercolors- comic book characters to monsters to more monsters to animals and flowers- and whatever else caught my eye. Though I have never had a Daily Deviation, my work has not been "Hot", I'm not remotely popular, I don't do fan art of anime/manga or mash-ups, I work traditionally, I don't understand a lot of the "in-jokes" on here.....I have and always will continue to push myself to be more well-rounded as a person and an artist. I will continue to learn new media, new techniques, draw upon new subject matter, and experiment with all of the above, plus 3.

Maybe one day I'll get that Daily Deviation. Or I'll "make it" (which is a great documentary by the way). Until then, I'm going to carry on as I have.

Wow...

In a mere 12 hours here in New Jersey, it will be 2015. By March, I will have been a member of this site for 10 years (damn!). What does this new year hold?

Who knows; I'm only along for the ride.

Cheers mates.

Hello all-

Some questions for y'all to field:

- How popular are they? Do you find yourself doing a lot, a little, none?

- What do you charge for commissioned work on them?

Thanks,

~Nick~
